2023 Canadian Society for Aesthetics

After meeting virtually for two years on zoom, the 2023 annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Aesthetics will happily resume in-person meetings, in company with 70 other Canadian associations, as part of the 91st Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences (www.congress2023.ca).  Submissions on any topic in aesthetics are invited.  But special interest is expressed for papers in the following areas:  1) Urban, natural and environmental aesthetics   2) Philosophy of literature and theater  3) Ethical and political issues in any of the arts    4) Scientific framing of problems in aesthetics and the arts  5) The place of aesthetics in educational curricula  6) Philosophy of music  7) New developments in 21st century aesthetic theorizing.   In the initial stage of consideration, preference will be given to completed papers of under 3000 words, accompanied by a 150-word abstract and suitable for presentation in fewer than 25 minutes.  Abstracts, if submitted alone, will be assessed later and only if vacancies occur in the programme.  Submissions should be prepared for blind review.  Proposals for panels on special topics or recent publications are also invited, and should include names and affiliations of all participants plus an abstract of the subject matter.  Participants selected for inclusion in the programme are required to pay CSA membership and conference registration fees.   Submissions must be sent as e-mail attachments (PDF, Word or RTF formats).  Inquiries or submissions may be sent to Ira Newman; Philosophy; Mansfield University; Mansfield PA 16933 (USA); inewman@mansfield.edu.  or inewman@commonwealthu.edu
